Spice 21 is fabulous in many ways - the decor is fantastic and modern, (no peeling wallpaper and damp in the corner in this place) - although I do wish we'd gone when it was busier (I went with about 8 people on a Wednesday and it was empty, although at the weekend you'll have to book). The staff are very friendly, and the food is delicious and reasonable value - the only thing that stops it getting fulls marks is that the portions are on the small side (but that could just be because I'm greedy) and the house wine tastes like red coloured antifreeze - you'd be better either saving your money and sticking to lager or splashing out and buying a bottle. All in all, highly recommended. Rating: 95%

Had a quality night here. My mates birthday. A word of warning you have to order rice when ordering your dish. I unfortunatly forgot. Nice set up, nice staff, nice food - generally quite good. Rating: 85%

A brave attempt to create a "different" Indian Restaurant - slightly different menu, modern decor, and excellent service, but the punters seem to be staying away in their droves and the place feels a bit dead most of the time. Quality of food's historically been a bit variable - when it's good this is one of the top Indian restaurants in York (only the Bengal Brasserie, the Viceroy and the Aagrah are in the same league) but there have been spells when the food's tasted very uninspired and lacklustre.
