Just had my first (and last) takeaway after previous recommendations from friends. Although it took only 40 minutes to arrive all food was luke warm. Every aspect of my takeaway was poor, particularly in view of stellar cometition such as Garden of India. For the record I ordered mixed kebab (OK), special rajshahi balti (tasteless), Sah Aloo (absolute crap), tandoori roti (garbage) and chapati (OK). Rating: 40%

One of York's most innovative Indian restaurants, with a menu featuring a lot of unfamiliar dishes. Laid-back friendly service, huge and tasty portions, reasonable pricing and pleasant surroundings - a fine place for a curry. I would back up a previous comment about chicken here though - in many dishes it does seem to be leg or thigh meat rather than breast; which works well in stronger-flavoured dishes. If you want a treat, round up some friends, phone them the night before and order the special khurzi - a complete meal based around slow-roasted spiced chicken or lamb with salads, rice, veg, and all manner of good things hiding in there. One of the finest Indian meals we've ever had in York and at a great price too. Rating: 95%
