I live in London and have relatives in New Earswick. It is impossible to get proper fish and chips in London. The fish is never fresh and they don't know how to make decent batter. Every time I visit York I head straight for Kippers. The fish there is fantastic! The batter is so light and crunchy. Perfect. The service is always cheerful and it costs half what it costs in London. My only complaint is that the size of the fish portions are a little small. Other than that it's great. The chipper in nearby Haxby is excellent too! How lucky you are to live there. Rating: 90%

me and my schoolfriends have to sneak out of the premesis past the headteacher through thorny bushes and over fences every lunch time... to get to kippers. Rating: 95%
