The most stunning interior in York - the Assembly Rooms really are a treat for the eyes and a gorgeous environment in which to enjoy a meal. If only the food at ASK was anywhere near as good as the surroundings this would be a classic restaurant - unfortunately, it's a bland Italian/Mediterranean menu, unimaginative and overpriced, and portions are tiny. This building cries out for something that celebrates British cuisine, not a lukewarm overgrown pizzeria. A disappointment. Rating: 40%
